Two gardens on your route
Before setting sail for this emblematic corner of the capital, we invite you to stop at Parc Montsouris. It has the particularity of being close to our establishment. It is one of the largest green spaces in Paris, and remains its last green lung to the south, before the ring road.
Its statues, lake and monumental trees undoubtedly make it an ideal place to relax. Not far from there is the “Cité Universitaire” stop where you can access the RER B. The latter quickly reached the “Luxembourg” station where the famous garden of the same name is located.
From the Pantheon to the Great Mosque
A few cables away, it is the Pantheon which remains the essential tourist attraction. The city of Paris invites travellers to explore the restored high parts of this great neoclassical monument, in which Jean Moulin, Marie Curie, Voltaire and Victor Hugo are buried. Bordered by bars and restaurants, Place de la Sorbonne can also attract your attention.
It houses a monument dedicated to Auguste Comte and the Sainte-Ursule chapel of the Sorbonne University, radiant at night. In addition, the Latin Quarter attracts tourists who wish to visit the Great Mosque. It is the oldest mosque in the city ! Also famous for its impressive minaret, and sumptuous floral motifs that adorn its large door.
An amphitheatre and a historic market
Continue your walk at the Jardin des plantes, a 17th century place characterized by its large greenhouses and specialized gardens similar to the rose garden. There is a menagerie with many species from all over the world. Once mischievous, rue Mouffetard reflects the friendly atmosphere of this historic district.
Some enjoy their lunch while others come to celebrate! The arenas of Lutèce nearby are worth a visit, they are the remains of the Roman era and constitute a significant part of Paris’ heritage. Before taking line 7 of the metro back to the hotel, we suggest a detour to the very old market of Place Monge, an opportunity not to be missed if you want to do some choice shopping.
